The Château of Cheverny is situated in the Loire river valley and was the first private French château to open its doors to the public in 1922. It is one of the best furnished châteaux in France. Today Cheverny receives more than 450 000 visitors a year and the Tintin exhibitions has had more than one million visits since it opened in 2001. The estate has been in the same family for more than six centuries. The owners live in one of the wings of the château with their three children.
