In the heart of the Loire Valley, near the Château de Chenonceau , Le Moulin du Port welcomes you to a renovated mill nestled in a verdant setting. This charming bed and breakfast combines authenticity, comfort, and a friendly atmosphere , ideal for a nature getaway , a discovery trip, or an incentive seminar in the countryside.
Our five guest rooms and two cottages offer a warm ambiance, blending old-world charm with contemporary touches, making you feel right at home. Each morning, enjoy a homemade breakfast prepared with local and seasonal products. The table d'hôtes dinner, available by reservation for groups , features healthy and delicious cuisine.
On-site, enjoy a heated swimming pool , a peaceful wooded park , and direct access to hiking and cycling trails along the Cher River and through the vineyards. It's the perfect starting point for discovering the heritage, wines, and gentle lifestyle of the Loire Valley.

The story of the building
First a flour mill
Le Moulin du Port is a charming stone house built of tufa, located in the heart of the Loire Valley châteaux region. Constructed in 1878, the mill was operated from 1883 until 1963 by Mr. Farinneau.During World War II, it was situated in the unoccupied zone, while the opposite bank of the river was occupied by the Germans.
Then, a hotel and restaurant
Purchased by the Romainville (in the suburb of Paris) town hall in 1967, the property was transformed into a children's holiday center before becoming a hotel-restaurant specializing in Loire River fish: "La Roue à Aubes" (The Waterwheel).The waterwheel served as entertainment for guests, and a small balcony was built for this purpose. It still exists, and what a sight it is!
A convalescent home
This building has truly had several lives! It became a convalescent home and then gradually transformed into a home for early retirees until 2005.
A guesthouse
In 2005, the property was completely transformed into a guest house with 5 bedrooms and 2 charming cottages by Isabelle and Thierry Moreau. They added a heated outdoor swimming pool.
Here we are today!
We took possession of this former mill in January 2021. The paintwork has been completely redone, and we have totally redecorated the bedrooms, living room, and common areas. The transformation of the house and grounds continues month by month. The list of work is long, but each day a little more is added, bringing greater comfort, tranquility, and beauty to this place brimming with charm and history.

A library and a piano
A Pleyel piano is available for enthusiasts and musicians.Everyone can browse our extensive library of art books, novels, comics, and decorating magazines.

If you enjoy games, you can share moments with family or friends thanks to our many board games, both new and old.

A vast glass-roofed dining room immerses you, from breakfast onwards, in the heart of our wooded park. It overlooks the Cher River and the old lock keeper's house. It's also the perfect spot to admire the hot air balloons gliding gently by at sunrise and sunset. A spectacle you'll never tire of, and one that's sure to whet your appetite!

This waterwheel dates from 1878 and was put into operation in 1883. It was used to grind flour and powered two millstones located on the upper floors of the house.Its size is very impressive (4 meters long by 6 meters wide), and its condition is equally remarkable. It ceased operation in 1963.A magnificent piece of craftsmanship and history, it is a testament to the skill of the artisans of that era. It has been a protected monument since 2019.

Our secure, heated outdoor pool is open from June 1st to September 15th. It measures 10m x 5m with a gradual depth ranging from 50cm to 190cm. Sun loungers, armchairs, and small tables await you in the shade of charming vintage parasols. A maximum of 12 people can relax there between 10:00 AM and 7:30 PM.Children remain the responsibility of their parents.
6500m2 of wooded parkland
You'll find plenty of relaxing spots with tables, chairs, and armchairs scattered throughout the park. Enjoy a picnic, a drink, a good book, or simply daydream.Yoga enthusiasts can practice on the lawn or meditate to the sound of the nearby river.
Are you shooting or pointing?
A large pétanque court awaits you in our park for some spirited games once the good weather arrives! We provide the pétanque balls and the jack.

Whether or not, you are influenced by the Olympics champions, the Lebrun brothers, you can train or have fun with the family using this ping pong table. Paddles and balls are included.

Our car park, large enough to accommodate 9 vehicles, is accessible right from the park entrance. It is free of charge, of course.
